For centuries Luserna stone has been used in civil construction for various purposes. Its beauty was even recognised by Antonelli, who chose it for his most famous building, the Mole Antonelliana. Although it has never stopped being used, in recent years its beauty and perfect adaptability have been rediscovered. Today, Luserna stone is also proposed for design projects and in contexts with a specific modern style, where it is combined with wood, terracotta, marble and other materials.
The quarry
Italpietre’s BALMA ORO quarry is located in the Bagnolo Piemonte reservoir between the mountains of Val Pellice and Valle Po, a few kilometres from Turin.
It is from here that our quarrymen extract blocks of Luserna stone with the help of modern, state-of-the-art technologies, keeping pace with market demands. The technology would be nothing, however, without the work and expertise of ITALPIETRE’s skilled workers, who bring the quality of the products to the highest level.
